Pakistan Railways is ready to launch Wi-Fi and Online tracking system facility for the travelers and the freight trains within almost 3 months. Also Pakistan Railways is planning to launch a new affordable train specifically for low-income people called ‘Rehman Baba’. The aim of the train is to facilitate those people who cannot afford to travel via expensive trains or other modes of transport.

The Railway Minister of Pakistan Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that expatriates Pakistanis are offering free of cost services to Pakistan for providing Wi-Fi and online tracking facility in trains. Sheikh Rashid informed this while briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Railways along with Muhammad Asad Ali Khan Junejo.
Asad Khan Junejo gave a recommendation that Pakistan Railways can provide cell phones to the train drivers in which the software can be installed to track the trains. The assurance was given by the Railway Minister that soon all trains will have a tracking system. Furthermore, the minister said that soon the economy class trains will have air conditioners thus it is necessary to increase the fares.
On asking China to include Main Line (ML-II) project along with ML-1 in CPEC Sheikh Rashid said, “I will accompany PM Khan during his visit to China where along with the finalization of ML-I for implementation, we will ask China to include the up-gradation of ML-II as well in the CPEC framework.”
He also said, “We are going to bring the track between Sukkar and Karachi as per the expectations of the people as we did not pay attention to tracks across the country.”
