According to Pakistan Railways, the system has been created and launched today on the directions of Railway minister after he received many complaints on social media. The system developed is to generate duplicate tickets if someone has lost the ticket. The Railway Minister will formally inaugurate the system later—Reported by SAMA.
Previously, if the ticket is lost it comes on the customers head by paying again for the new ticket, in the new system developed, customers can regenerate the ticket without paying anything.
The new system will generate an SMS against every ticket booked. The SMS will carry the code and helpline number, in case of loss of ticket the passenger can send that code to given helpline which will resend the entire Passenger’s data including booking reference, train, date, and seat to Passenger’s phone.
Passengers would be able to travel on the basis of SMS delivered to them, however, the duplicate ticket can be reprinted from the office with 10% of the cost of the initial ticket.
In October 2016, Pakistan Railways also started an e-ticketing app, passengers can book their tickets using the app and have the soft copy of their ticket with in their app which can be used as a travel ticket.
