The Pakistan Railways announced 25 per cent discount in rail fares. This announcement has been made in accordance with the upcoming Eid. The railways have announced a special Eid Package with a reduction of twenty-five per cent in the costs of rail fares. It also announced to provide free travel to the elderly citizens.
Earlier Pakistan Railways announced to operate five special trains on Eid-ul-Azha for facilitating the passengers on the joyous occasion.
Duriya Aamir—the spokesperson of the Pakistan Railways said that there would be a discount of 25 per cent for the travelling passengers on Eid-ul-Azha. All the train classes, on the second and third day of Eid, would get a twenty-five per cent discount too. The decision was taken during a meeting that was led by Aftab Akbar—the Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Railways.
Duriya Aamir further said that Pakistan Railways has also decided and announced to provide free travel for the elderly citizens on the first and second day of Eid-ul-Azha. The free travelling facility would be provided on all the classes of all trains.
The spokesperson alsinformeded that the citizens who are more than sixty-five years of age would have to show their original computerized identity cards (CNICs) for getting the free tickets.
The railways previously announced a thirty per cent discount in rail fares during Eid-ul-Fitr, with the discount offer being valid for the Eid day and the day after it. However, this time the offer is available for the second and third day of the Eid-ul-Azha.
A huge amount of 19.29 billion has been given for operational cost for the present 2018-19 against the earlier rupees 18.99 billion for the 2017-18. This expenditure is uncontrollable as already many revisions in the prices of fuel have occurred in the past few months. Moreover, to meet the heavy demand, railways would attach additional coaches.
