The Pakistan Railways has made an announcement that it has reduced the fares in all the classes of passenger, express and mail trains by twenty percent during the initial twenty days of the holy month—Ramazan.

The Ramazan packages were announced on the instruction of the Minister Railways—Khawaja Saad Rafique and the concessional rates would be applied to all the tickets booked in advance, as informed by a spokesperson on Tuesday.

After the initial twenty days of Ramazan, the national rail carrier would then be revealing another special package for all the travellers during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

Highlighting on the details of the packages offered by the Pakistan Railways, Abdul Hameed Razi—Pakistan Railways Chief Executive Officer said that the travellers have been offered the concessional rates in train fares on at least two dozen events and occasions during the span of last five years.

In the meantime, the Railways Police IG Dr Mujibur Rehman has instructed that foolproof security measures should be adopted at the railway stations, trains and other installations for avoiding any unwanted accidents or incidents.

While heading a meeting held in his office on Tuesday, the IG instructed all the SPs to position maximum officials on railway stations, mosques and trains especially during the hours of Sehri, Taraveeh and Iftar.

As per the given directions no platform is to be left unattended and beggars should not be permitted to roam here and there.

All the entry and exit points to the railway installations should also be properly secured and manned and all the incoming passengers and their respective luggage be checked with metal detectors at railways stations.

The railway policemen would regularly patrol the area of the railway police dominion.
