Pakistan Post has acquired an acre of land in Gwadar in order to establish an international standard mail office. The project will cost around PKR 79 million. The location of the acquired land is near Gwadar Industrial Zone. It will receive good business as it’s near the industrial site.
It is being reported that the PC-1 of the project is already prepared by Pakistan Post. The pre-planning stage of the project is completed. Under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) PKR 40 million is allocated to this project.
The services that will be provided in this international mail office include logistical, postal, and customer services.
As the federal government approves the project, the construction will start on the project.
China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a mega project between Pakistan and China. Gwadar is the central point of this development project. Thirty-one projects have been proposed for Gwadar Development with an estimated cost of Rs 137bn. The project for Gwadar development includes Gwadar Airport, desalination plant for clean drinking water, upgradation of existing 50-bed hospital to 300 beds, development of Gwadar export processing zone, and building of CPEC Institute.
Gwadar Port is becoming the International Trading Hub under CPEC. Also, the New International Airport in Gwadar will be the biggest airport of Pakistan. It will be situated on 4,300 acres. In comparison to other airports of Pakistan like Karachi airport which is developed on 3,700 acres, new Islamabad International Airport on 3,600 acres, Lahore Airport on 2800 acres, new Gwadar Airport will be the biggest airport in terms of its area.
The development in Gwadar is key to the success of the CPEC project between Pakistan and China.
