On Sunday it was announced by the Pakistan Post that it has opened more than 40 rest houses for the tourists at various destinations in the country for looking after the needs of the domestic and foreign tourists.
As per a senior official of the Pakistan Post, the move is in accordance with the vision of the Prime Minister who had been strongly promoting tourism in the country by providing cost-effective accommodations to the travellers at beautiful locations.
The official further said that the initiative would not just boost the tourism industry but would also generate more revenue for the department.
The rest houses from Karachi to Murree were upgraded on the directives of Murad Saeed—the Minister for Communications and Postal Services as informed by the official.
The rest houses were being used by the officials of the Pakistan Post but now public could access them.
As per the official notification, tourists would now be able to stay at the rest houses of Pakistan Post at economical rates.
The rest houses have been placed into 3 categories.
The A-category rest houses are located in the cities including
- Nathia Gali,
- Lahore Cantt,
- Shadman Lahore,
- Faisalabad GPO,
- Sialkot Cantt,
- Sialkot General Post Office (GPO), and
The charges for these rest houses are Rs.3,000 per day.
The B-category rest houses are located in:
- Murree GPO,
- DI Khan,
- Mirpur, and
The charges for the category-B rest houses is Rs.2,000 per night.
Similarly, the C-category rest houses are located in:
- Pindi Point Murree,
- Sialkot Cantt,
- Ziarat, and
- Saidu Sharif
The per day rent of this category rest houses is Rs.1,200.
