It was announced by the Federal Minister for Postal Services and Communication Murad Saeed that Pakistan Post pensioners will be given the debit card facility till 25th December.
He addressed the 145th World Post Day ceremony at the Postal Staff College. He said that not just instant cash will be provided to old citizens through the debit card facility but also it will be made easier for them to cash their pensions as they will not have to stand in long queues.
He said, “This service will help boost the revenue for the post besides pointing out the ‘Ghost Pensioners’ of the department.”
Furthermore, 35,000 internships for youth were announced by the minister in which they can register with Pakistan Post as pick and drop facility.
The minister was hopeful that, “with the help of all the innovative steps that we are taking, Pakistan Post will be the biggest contributor to the economy in the next three years.”
Regarding job vacancies in the Pakistan Post department, he said that 300% of volume revenue was generated with the same staff. Thus, the department was providing cheap and speedy services to the people.
Federal Secretary of Postal Services Hamid Haroon also spoke on the occasion and gave stress on the use of technology in postal service.
