A China built-warship, Type-054 Class Frigate has been inducted by Pakistan Navy into its fleet. This was revealed by the public relations department of the navy and reported by VOANews.
The navy in a press release said, “The Type-054 Class, fitted with the latest surface, subsurface, anti-air weapons, combat management system and sensors will be one of the technologically advanced surface platforms of Pakistan Navy Fleet.”
Adding, “These ships will significantly contribute to maintaining peace and security in our area of responsibility.”
At the Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard in the Shanghai city of China, the launching ceremony of the frigate was held. At the ceremony, Pakistan Navy’s Commodore Azfar Humayun was the chief guest.
The inclusion of the ship into the fleet of Pakistan will help in improving the efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
The cost of these military vessels was not mentioned, however, its estimated cost would be over $350 million each. It is expected that the Chinese builder will deliver all the four units to Pakistan by 2021. As per the Chinese media, it would possibly “double the combat power” of the Pakistan Navy fleet.
In another article, Researchsnipers reported that the Chinese CH-4 drones will be deployed by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LOC) to prevent any intrusion from the Eastern border. These are the Chinese version of the American MQ-9 Reaper.
