Pakistan has launched its first electric rickshaw. The first of its kind rickshaw was introduced in a special ceremony that was held in Lahore on Saturday.
The event was managed and conducted by the Climate Change Ministry and was attended by many including the adviser to the PM on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam, as per the reports of local media.
While talking on the occassion, the adviser to the PM said that the project success is dependent on the financial benefits of its owners.
As per the experts the production of the electric rickshaws would not just be saving the fuel but would also be placing a positive impact on the environment.
He said that by the end of this year the electric vehicle policy would be launched completely in the country. The policy would be boosting the idea of pollution-free automobiles in Pakistan, as said by the adviser.
He further added that it is the environment friendly, low budget vehicle and the money which it uses for the oil importation would also be curbed, hence, it would be benefiting the nation in one way or the other.
The battery is referred as the EcoRik Li-Ion Battery, having power of 48V, 125Ah, and 6kwh. It would be charged in a span of 5 hours and once the rickshaw gets charged it could drive for 125 km.
The adviser to the PM further added that the government was working to launch electric buses in Lahore to fight against the menace of air pollution.
