In the latest Global Peace Index 2020, Pakistan has jumped up a place. The index that ranks nations globally by how safe they are have ranked Pakistan at 152th position among 163 countries. Last year Pakistan stood at 153rd position which suggest that Pakistan has improved in its ranking on the peace front. India, on the other hand, jumped up 2 places from 141th to 139th position.
Iceland retained its position as the most peaceful country in the world, joined by New Zealand, Portugal, Austria, and Denmark.
The least peaceful country was Afghanistan while Syria was the second least peaceful country. The other three least peaceful countries amongst five least peaceful countries were Iraq, South Sudan, Yemen, and Somalia.
According to their level of peacefulness, the Global Peace Index (GPI) ranks 163 independent states and territories. GPI, produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) is the leading measure of global peacefulness in the world.
