Pakistan Film Festival will be held next month in New York

The second Pakistani Film Festival will be held next month in New York. Pakistan’s Mission to the UN has organized the Film Festival that will be held in New York on 7th and 8th July. Top stars from Pakistani movie industry will be featured in the film festival.

Known Pakistani films will be screened at Pakistan Film Festival including Na Band Na Baraati, Punjab Nahi Jaongi, Cake, Verna, 7 Din Mohabbat In, Parchi, and Lala Begum.

“Second Pakistani Film Festival will be held next month in New York. In two-day festival, new film will be presented on the 7th and 8th July.

Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy the Oscar award winner from Pakistan will take part in the festival. She will conduct a special segment called ‘Beyond the Oscars’ in which she will discuss the current and future challenges in Pakistan’s film industry. In the First Film Festival in New York Chinoy’s animated movie, 3 Bahadur was screened.

Pakistani stars who will take part in the festival include big names like Mahira Khan, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Sheharyar Munawwar, Aamina Sheikh, Hareem Farooqi, Zeb Bangesh and Mehwish Hayat. Movie directors and producers will also grace the event including Punja b Nahi Jaoungi maker Nadeem Baig.

Pakistan Film Festival is an event organized by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UN, Maleeha Lodhi with an aim to promote a softer image of Pakistan worldwide.

Lodhi said, “Pakistan’s movie industry has continued to evolve, having gone through an exciting revival, and we are proud to present another edition of the Film Festival in the Big Apple.”

Adding that new entertaining and diverse films are being produced in Pakistan. “They are contributing to the cultural renaissance underway in the country which is also reflected in the profusion of creative voices found today in Pakistan’s art, music, literature and the media.”

Ambassador Lodhi said, “Cultural diplomacy is a vital part of any diplomat’s job which is aimed at winning hearts and mind. All the dynamism and diversity found in our films will be on display in the movies that will be shown during this Festival.”
