Pakistan To Develop Gwadar Shipyard For Promoting Merchant Shipbuilding

Development of Gwadar shipyard is being planned by Pakistan. They want to build it to promote merchant shipbuilding on a rapid track basis so that it meets the ever increasing demand.

Once it is developed, new modern commercial vessels would be built which would enable Pakistan to compete with other nations.

The vision is to build ships that can carry large crude; two dry-docks to control around 600,000 dead weight tonnage.

Along with the development of merchant ships, the planned Gwadar shipyard would boost construction of barges, survey vessels, tugs and tugs to support port’s happenings in the country. Moreover, the sources believe that few Chinese companies have shown a keen interest in this Gwadar shipyard project.
