Pakistan Banking awards 2017 were jointly conducted by Institute of Bankers, A.F. Ferguson and Company and Dawn Media Group.
In the awards, Bank Alfalah won the Best Bank Award for 2017 displaying “the most significant contribution to national development and the most effective management of its resources, including its employees, clients, franchise community, and financials”.
The same award last year was received by UBL. Moreover, Bank Alfalah was also named the Best Bank for Customer Franchise.
Other than this, various banks managed to get awards for different categories.
Best Bank for the Unbanked: Telenor Microfinance Bank won this award for diversifying its reach to all segments of the society.
Best Microfinance Bank Award: Again the award went to Telenor Microfinance Bank for reaching out to low-income segments of our society.
Best Bank for Small Business and Agriculture: This went to Habib Bank for its effort and work for small businesses.
Best Bank for Corporate Finance and Capital Market Development: UBL received this award for promoting capital and secondary market development.
Best Islamic Bank: Meezan Bank was declared the Best Islamic Bank in its effort in raising Islamic banking awareness among the general public
Best Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Bank: JS Bank received the Award for conducting responsible business.
Mr. Bajwa said that banking sector plays a pivotal role in building the economy of a country. The awards are a step to encourage banks and to recognize their efforts in developing Pakistani society.
