Pakistan has announced visa on-arrival facility for 50 countries around the world. Also, e-visas will be given to 175 countries. The aim is to promote tourism in Pakistan
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry revealed that 50 countries citizens will be given visa and 175 countries citizens will be provided with e-visa facility.
Also US passport-holders along with British of Indian origin will be granted on-arrival visas to Pakistan.
The minister further disclosed that short and long term visas will be issued to journalists and students to visit Pakistan.
Under the new policy the IATA-approved tour operators can also bring tourists groups to Pakistan.
Chaudhry said, “We want to make ‘Naya Pakistan’ a heaven for tourists.”
Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa in a meeting approved the new visa regime. In the 1970s, Pakistan was a known tourist destination when the “hippie trail” brought foreign travellers to the beauty of the Swat Valley and Kashmir. But the security situation in Pakistan almost destroyed the tourist industry of the country.
Now the security condition has improved in the country and attacks have reduced drastically. The visa policy is also being relaxed to attract tourism.
