Shah Mehmood Qureshi—the Foreign Minister of Pakistan said that we have decided to invite the former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh to the inauguration ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor.
While talking to the media, the minister for foreign affairs said that former Indian PM will be sent an official invitation for the inauguration, which is due to be held on the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.
Mr Qureshi said Manmohan Singh has a religious affiliation with Kartarpur, thus he and other Sikhs of India would be warmly welcomed to the ceremony to open Kartarpur Corridor to the Sikh pilgrims.
It is pertinent to mention here that PTI-led federal government of Pakistan has decided to further simplify the visa procedures for the Sikh pilgrims arriving in Pakistan through the Kartarpur Corridor.
According to the details, the ministry has directed the Minister for Foreign Affairs and National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) to develop the regulations that would allow the Indian Sikh pilgrims to avail visa on ‘Religious Tourism’ through an online visa portal.
Dr Muhammad Faisal—the spokesperson of the Foreign Office said that Pakistan has completed 90% of work in the Kartarpur Corridor and will allow as many as 5000 Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Pakistan this year.
