Pakistan and Vietnam to start free trade agreement between two countries

Vietnam’s Ambassador to Pakistan Phan Hong Kim said on Monday that Pakistan and Vietnam have been mulling to sign a “Free Trade Agreement” FTA between two countries in order to boost bilateral trade.

While talking to the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) he assured that two countries will soon start negotiations and come to the decision which will result in a binding contract.

The Ambassador said that exchanging trade delegations would play a critical role in shaping bilateral trade between Pakistan and Vietnam. He further said we are confident that both sides will encourage business and investment delegations from both sides, he urged Sialkot business community to explore opportunities in the Vietnamese market.

SCCI president at the occasions said, Vietnam embassy in Pakistan may facilitate the B2B linkages and MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) signing between Vietnam based Chambers of Commerce and Industry and SCCI to accelerate trade activities.

The president said currently we have a total trade volume of $610 million between the countries in which the balance of trade is in favor of Vietnam. The President SCCI also urged the collaboration between SCCI and Vietnam Embassy, he said, “We can accelerate trade between the countries by facilitating frequent interaction of business and private sectors.”
