Pakistan and Tajikistan on Tuesday during a meeting agreed to streamline their trade efforts and reach at least $500 million in bilateral trade, the meeting was focused on enhancing bilateral trade relations between both the countries.
It discussed and agreed to immediately revive air links and implement the Casa-1000 electricity supply.
Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain and Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon attended the meeting at the State Guest House on Tuesday in Dushanbe. Mr. President was on a four-day tour while having this one-on-one and delegation-level meeting with Rahmon.
During the talks, the two sides discussed and stressed on further strengthening the relationships in the areas not only trade but also energy, connectivity, defense, education, health, and culture.
Pakistan already has good relationships with other central Asian countries including Tajikistan, but trade wise Pakistan has not achieved a significant milestone with them, if this partnership goes well, Pakistan would be able to make similar agreements with other central Asian countries as well.
