Another milestone has been achieved by Pakistan as it has added Al-Khalid Tank-I into its arsenal. Military experts call it the “king of the battlefield” as it is taken as the most important armored combat vehicle.
China and Ukraine, in a joint venture, built the tank. Then in a ceremony held at Heavy Industry Taxila (HIT) on Tuesday, it was given to the Armoured Corps Regiment of Pakistan Army. The Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa also attended the ceremony.
This addition of Al-Khalid tank-I into its arsenal not just shows that Pakistan is self-reliant but also strengthens the Pak-China friendship. The tanks are equipped with modern technology including Driver Digital Panel and Thermal Imaging.
The tanks also the ability to defend itself against any kind of nuclear, biological, and chemical attack.
Armoured Corps Regiment was given the tank has it has an essential and decisive role during the war. It is pertinent to mention here that the Armed Corps Regiment has always displayed the best performance in wars against enemies. During the Battle of Chawinda, it outdid the adversary.
In the 1965 war in Chawinda, the Pak Army caused heavy loss of life and property to the enemy. It is also known as the graveyard of Indian tanks.
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, during his address to the 3rd Armored Brigade in 1948 paid homage to the soldiers of Pakistan Army stating, “Although your combat vehicle has evolved from horses to tanks, it is your valor and confidence which makes you as a warrior and that should be your guiding principles.”
