Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited (PSMCL) has increased car prices by up to Rs.329,000. The prices have been raised of various models by Rs40,000 to Rs. 329,000. Even the prices of Mehran 800cc models were increased despite it getting discontinued at a time.
In a letter that the company issued to authorized dealers, the increase in price was attributed to the strengthening of the dollar against the Pak Rupee. The negative exchange rate impact on rupee devaluation and the new duties/taxes imposed by the government in the fiscal budget is considered the cause of the hike in car prices.
Suzuki Mehran VX and VXR models have been raised from Rs799,000 and Rs880,000 to Rs839,000 and Rs923,000 respectively. Similarly, the prices of Cultus VXR, VXL and VXL AGS have been increased from Rs1.440m, Rs1.551m and Rs1.668m to Rs1.745 million, Rs1.85m and Rs1.975m respectively.
Suzuki Swift DLX NAV and AT NAV model prices have been increased from Rs1.585m and Rs1.721m to Rs1.975m and Rs2.050m respectively.
Prices of WagonR VXR and VXL models have been raised from Rs1.264m and Rs1.344m to Rs1.540m and Rs1.625m respectively.
Bolan and Bolan Cargo Van prices have been increased from Rs874,000 and Rs840,000 to Rs1.050m and Rs1.005m respectively.
Ciaz GL MT and GL AT prices have been jacked up from Rs2.160m and Rs2.300m to Rs2.3m and Rs2.5m respectively. Similarly, Suzuki Vitara GLX price has been raised from Rs4.090m to Rs4.295m
PSMC Spokesperson Shafiq Ahmed Sheikh said, “We have not passed the full impact of new taxes and duties to the consumers and the company is still bearing the major impact of new budgetary measures.”
