Pak Suzuki has sent a notification to all vendors in which the company has taken a decision to discontinue Suzuki Mehran. It is also expected that the company might introduce some upgraded product line in the future.
Earlier March it was reported that Suzuki Pakistan is not going to discontinue Mehran any time soon, but later the company issued an official notification to discontinue Suzuki Mehran Model SB-308 VX by the end of November 2018.
However, in the above notification, it was not clear that Suzuki Mehran has made a decision whether to discontinue one model or the entire product line including its premium VXR model.
Now it is confirmed officially that Suzuki is going to discontinue the entire product line Including Mehran VX and Mehran VXR. The notification sent out to all vendors and dealerships indicate that the production would be continued till March 2019 and from April 2019 Suzuki will shut down all the production.
The company will produce 23,821 of the last units of Mehran VX and VXR by the end of March 2018, the company has also directed the vendors to prepare for only the parts that are required accordingly to avoid surplus.
Suzuki Mehran was the most popular car in Pakistan for the time it ruled the market for 30 years, it appeared to be the best car in Pakistan, based on the cost of ownership according to a survey conducted by Pak Wheels.
There are no plans as yet revealed by the automaker, how the company going to cover the market gap coming ahead by pulling this notorious car out of the market, but surely the company would have chalked out some plans to compensate this. The upcoming 10 new automakers in Pakistan is quite a big blow to shake up the company’s market share, the automakers seem to be preparing for the war ahead.
