The Pakistan government has made the decision to launch the digital banking facility for overseas Pakistanis next month. Soon, they will open the bank accounts and make investments directly in Pakistan from abroad, as reported by ProPakistani.
In the first week of September, the ‘Roshan Digital Accounts’ project will be launched. Prime Minister Imran Khan gave a green signal to this initiative, as revealed by the senior officer of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OP&HRD).
“After the launch of the project, the expatriates will have to submit their documents online for opening a new bank account. Under the initiative, they will get multiple facilities including funds transfer, e-commerce, bill payment, and others.”
According to the officer this initiative will allow the overseas Pakistanis to directly invest in the real estate sector and the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
The Roshan Digital Accounts for overseas Pakistanis is being introduced by the State Bank of Pakistan by collaborating with 8 leading banks in the country. Separate portals have been made by the banks on their websites with all the information with regard to the Roshan Digital accounts. It is run as a pilot project till it is launched.
In an earlier article, it was reported that the PM Khan’s Special Assistant said that the federal government has finalized a plan for offering the overseas Pakistanis digital banking facilities. The aim of the project is to help the overseas Pakistanis to invest in Pakistan.
