Pak-China Sign Karachi to Peshawar Railway Line Agreement

The Karachi-Peshawar railway line agreement was signed between Pakistan Railways and China’s National Railway Administration. The agreement was inked relating to the Main Line-1 project. It was signed at the PR Headquarters.

An Lusheng the National Railway Administration Deputy Administrator and Aftab Akbar PR Chief Executive Officer (CEO) signed the agreement. Both China & Pakistan have agreed to double the ML-1 track from Karachi to Peshawar along with the upgradation of the passenger trains & freight trains speed, computer-based signaling and control system.

Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed spoke at the occasion and said that the project is essential for China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He said, “All matters related to ML-1 have been settled, whereas a complete report on its design and infrastructure will be submitted by December 25.”

He further stated that ML-2 and 3 are also of utmost importance for CPEC. They will bring ease in the life of travelers while providing them with an affordable mode of transport. Furthermore, he informed the media officials that the PM Imran Khan will also inaugurate 4 new trains by November 23rd.

Recently Pakistan Railways also introduced an affordable train service operating between Karachi and Dhabeji. A new train the Hyderabad Express will also be inaugurated that will operate from Karachi to Hyderabad.
