Mian Saqib Nisar—the chief justice of Pakistan on Thursday halted the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from interfering in the Orange Line Train affairs.
While the hearing session of the case was in progress, the top judge gave assurance to oversee the mega development project until it gets completed and also instructed the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to pay a total of Rs1billion for the construction of the Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT).
The bench was led by the chief justice of Pakistan, he remarked that the payment of bills is essential for the construction firms, failing which the court should then impose a penalty on the development authority.
He also instructed the construction firms that they better grant LDA Rs1billion worth of bank guarantee.
While the hearing session was in progress, the CJP said that the supreme court wanted to further extend the contract of the project in-charge and instructed the advocate general for discussing the matter with the government representatives.
In the month of May back in 2014, the government of Punjab had inked a project with the Chinese National Development Reforms Commission about the construction of the Orange Line Train in Lahore.
The initial deadline for the project was 25th December 2017, but it was disfigured because of the uncertainty in mid of legal problems.
