Orange Line Project May Start In Islamabad- CDA

Orange Line track may start in Islamabad by the city authorities. If it is developed it would be the first mass rapid transit system on the rail in the federal capital.

As per the plans, the line would begin from Rawat and its destination point would be Peshawar Mor. From there it would connect with Metro Bus Track.

Capital Development authority official leaked out the news that Sheikh Anser Aziz, Islamabad mayor and acting CDA chief, Asad Mehboob Kayani Member Planning along with other officials visited Lahore to acquire information related to Lahore Orange Line project. The officials have examined different stations of Orange Line Project, obtained data and gathered details from the authorities about the project.

The mayor of Islamabad is interested to develop a transport project though Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad does not have enough funds to invest on the project. Mr. Kayani who also holds an acting charge as the chief metropolitan officer said that they paid a visit to Lahore to observe the Orange Line project and the mayor is interested to launch a transport project in the city.

He further said that many projects are being funded under the name of CPEC but Islamabad has not yet received any funding. So he concluded by saying

“We will request the federal government to include this project in CPEC.”
