Orange Line Metro Train will most likely start operations from July 30, 2019. This is as per the claim by the project director.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar during the hearing of Orange Line Metro Train project case was quite resentful over the delay in the project. The director of the project cleared that the orange line metro train project was delayed by 22 months as there was no work done during that time period.

Chief Justice remarked that he has heard complaints about the below average work being done in the project. He suggested that the chief minister of Punjab and finance minister must be summoned in this regard.
Previously the first successful trial run was completed of Orange line metro train inside the depot at Waran Gujran.
It was back in May 2014 that Punjab government and Chinese National Development Reforms Commission signed an agreement for the Orange Line Train project. The route of the train will be 27.1 kilometers long. The station stops will be from Ali Town to Thokar Niaz Baig, Multan Road to Scheme Mor, Chowburji, MAO College, Mall Road, Laxmi Chowk, Railway Station, Garhi Shahu Bridge to GT Road and UET and Pakistan Mint to Dera Gojran.
Orange Line Train will provide easy, affordable ride to the commuters. The earlier deadline of the project was 25th December 2017 and now it has been extended till July 2019.
A massive budget has been allocated to the Orange Line Metro Train Project. Rs 93 billion was allocated in the present fiscal year. With so much at cost, it is important that the project is completed within the prescribed period now.
