The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially launched Online Tax Collection System in Pakistan on Tuesday, the system would allow filers, taxpayers, corporations to pay their taxes and duties to FBR using their online banking or ATMs without going through a hassling offline procedure—The Nation reported.
The new online tax system was launched and inaugurated by the Special Advisor to Prime Minister on Revenue, Haroon Akhtar, the launching ceremony was held in FBR House in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Launching online systems is the part of Pakistan’s digital strategy, which stresses the need to adopt technology at all governmental and corporate levels that could bring ease of doing business in Pakistan. Earlier Pakistan has launched an online system for company registration in which made the company registration process hassle-free, as a result, thousands of new companies were registered in Pakistan during the month of February alone.
Pakistan customs also launched an online system for clearing customs and duties online without any hassle, not only this Pakistan has been focused on digitizing services for the past few years and this process is now one of the top priorities of the government. Digitization could save costs and maximize revenues which is eventually beneficial for the economy as a whole.
