OnePlus is best known for its smartphones, but after the initial successes, the Chinese manufacturer has started to expand its product portfolio. In the meantime, there are also headphones and televisions and probably even a smartwatch soon.
OnePlus can build on its roots with the recently released OnePlus Nord, but in other product categories, you can continue as normal and continue to expand your portfolio. The manufacturer recently launched its first OnePlus Buds true wireless headphones, and soon it will also expand its range of televisions.
A completely new category could soon be added, namely in the form of a smartwatch: As 91Mobiles (via 9to5Google ) reports, “OnePlus Watch” was discovered on the website of the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA; Singapore communications authority). This has the model number “W301GB”, but not too much other information can be found there.
Parallel development with Oppo
That wouldn’t be surprising, because OnePlus likes to release new products alongside its sister company Oppo. And this recently launched a Wear OS-based smartwatch, so it would be anything but surprising if OnePlus also followed suit with a related model. The work on a smartwatch has also been confirmed by an insider: An ex-OnePlus employee told TechRadar that the company had been working on a smartwatch for about a year. A smartwatch from OnePlus wouldn’t be a big surprise, as OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei confirmed in 2016 that the manufacturer had prepared a smartwatch – but these plans were abandoned again. Pei also published drawings and drafts of the watch at the time, but it will certainly look different in 2020.
