One-District-One-Road Program introduces in Rawalpindi


In order to ensure safety on the roads, the ODOR (One-District-One-Road) program has been introduced in the four districts of the Rawalpindi division. The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) force will be administering the aforementioned program.

The program has been effective in DG Khan and Sargodha, hence it has been introduced in Rawalpindi as well.

As per the Punjab Highway Patrol officials, the number of road accidents has been reduced by 40% in DG Khan and Sargodha in the initial phase of the project. Due to the enforcement of strict rules, motorists have become more careful than before.

Moreover, the officials said that the PHP and the police are going to work together under the (One-District-One-Road) program which has been introduced in the district through the personal efforts of the PHP Rawalpindi region SSP Sajid Kiyani. According to the PHP officials, if anyone violates the traffic rules, he/she will not be fined. But rather their vehicles will be confiscated and also they will have to face legal action.

The PHP and traffic police will watch different highways and the connecting roads including; Fateh Jhang-Kohat Road, Mandra-Chakwal Road, Jhelum-Pind Dadan Khan Road, and Chakwal-Jhelum Road. Travelers found over-speeding or driving overloaded vehicles will have to face legal action.

While talking to the media the officials said that they will also provide awareness to the motorists regarding the ODOR program and also the significance of following all traffic rules.
