Oil Tankers association threatens to go on an indefinite countrywide strike

A country-wide strike has been announced by the Oil Tankers and Contractors Association for an indefinite period from today (Thursday).

According to the details, the association announced the protest against the increase in the income tax, provincial service, and toll taxes.

The president of the Oil Tankers and Contractors Association said that they have decided to cut off the oil supply to the entire country after the government of Pakistan has failed in resolving their issues.

The association president Abidullah Afridi said that during the coronavirus pandemic, their sector worked 24 hours and ensured the oil supply across the country. The Oil Tankers Association announced that it will cut off oil supply across the country to protest an increase in the taxes.

The association’s president further said there is no business and the government of Pakistan has increased the taxes. “If the problems are not resolved, then we will observe a strike on July 16,” he added.

Abidullah Afridi further threatened the government that the association would go on an indefinite strike if the PTI-led federal government of Pakistan didn’t withdraw the hike in the taxes.
