For the month of October Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority has announced a 2.83 percent increase in Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) prices for the month of October 2018.

OGRA has set the price for consumers of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) at $12.538 per million British Thermal Units (MMBtu) and for the consumers of Sui Sothern Gas Company (SSGC) at $12.9252 per MMBtu for the month of October.

The prices were little lower in the month of September the RLNG price of SNGPL was $12.2027 per MMBtu and for SSGCL $12.5680. However, SNGPL consumers have seen a 2.75% increase in the prices as compared to SSGCL which is 2.83% increase.

The RLNG prices heavily relies on Oil prices and Rupee strength and both the indicators are in turmoil currently, the rising oil prices in international markets and a sharp decline in Rupee against dollar has pushed the prices up for the local consumers, as a result of increasing RLNG prices the energy cost in the country would also be affected in the coming days.

The prices also include LNG terminal charges, port charges, transmission losses, margins of importers such as Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL).

The government has also increased the natural gas prices on October 4, the government has increased 10% for the lowest slab and 143% for the highest slab of gas consumers which was implemented on September 27, 2018.

The government has also increased the slaps from three to seven, LPG prices also surged during the past months to record high.
