No university will be established in Prime Minister House as said by the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The idea to develop a university in the Prime Minister House has been dropped due to security issues raised by CDA.
Islamabad National University (INU) will no more be established as CDA has objected over the site of PM House that is within Islamabad’s high-security Red Zone.
Due to this objection the plan to convert the Prime Minister House in to a university has bee postponed by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
So now for this plan, HEC is thinking to develop another institution that will be situated half-a-kilometer behind the Prime Minister House. The proposed institution will host around 3 to 4 research centers and it will be a degree awarding institute.
Ayesha Ikram the HEC Spokesperson said that the objection of CDA has been acknowledged by the commission in this regard. A reply from the civic agency is needed by the HEC with regard to the new proposal.
A PC-1 for the project has been submitted by HEC, as revealed by Ayesha Ikram. As per the HEC spokesperson the establishment of university in Prime Minister House was not a good idea at all. It would have required changes in the Islamabad’s master plans.
It is pertinent to mention here that back in December 201, PM Khan made an announcement that he will establish a university in the PM House. It would be named Islamabad National University. Now let us see how things go.
