The areas of Pakistan that have been placed under smart lockdown to keep the spread of the highly contagious virus in check have been exempted from load-shedding.
The power division has directed all the distribution firms that no power outages would be permitted in the areas where the smart lockdown is being imposed even if the feeders are in high losses.
As per a press release on Saturday, the decision has been taken to provide relief to the general public. All the control rooms in each distribution firm as well as the central control room are being monitored closely and are ensuring the immediate redressal of the complaints.
The press release mentioned that in the span of the last couple of years it has taken direct and well-thought measures across the country to decrease the power theft and losses. As a result of the put in efforts even on the high-loss feeders losses and theft have reduced and thus load-shedding has also been dropped significantly.
The power transmission system was not capable of providing more than 18,000 MW of electricity, however, the capacity of the transmission system has surged to nearly 26,000 MW.
Currently, am average load of more than 22,000 MW is being maintained and that also successfully.
