On Saturday, reports came out saying that many areas of Karachi have no electricity even on the third day of rain.
After the rain, many of the PMTs and feeders tripped down in Karachi which caused a great power breakdown in the port city.
Areas which faced massive power breakdown included; SITE, Saddar, Khudadad Colony, M.A. Jinnah Road, Quaidabad, Shah Faisal Colony, Korangi, Qayyumabad, Gulbahar, Gulistan-e-Johar, Khamosh Colony, PECHS, New Karachi, Korangi, Federal B Area, Liaquatabad, Keamari, North Karachi, Lyari, Defence, Saudabad, Soldier Bazar, Malir, North Nazimabad, Landhi, Old City Area and Malir.
Some of the areas also faced voltage fluctuation which resulted in damaging the electronic appliances and other useful equipment.
Although the process to restore electricity is being done continuously all around the city but still there are some areas where the restoration process is not possible until the rainwater is completely drained, said a spokesperson of K-electric.
According to him, the rainwater can cause accidents and it can also affect underground cables. Hence, the concerned authorities have been asked to accelerate drainage of water as the restoration process in these areas re impossible and other instalments can cause more damages.
The rain has created chaos in Karachi. Many roads have been flooded with water.
The rain continued even on Saturday crippling the city life.
The power supply was disrupted on Friday and still it impossible to restore electricity. Yesterday, more than 500 feeders tripped down in Karachi.
