Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shah Mehmood Qureshi in his statement said that our government’s top priority was the restoration of the confidence of the investors and added that the newly appointed economic team would gradually boost the economy of Pakistan.
While talking to the media representatives, Mr Qureshi said that the newly appointed governor of the central bank of Pakistan Dr Raza Baqir was a renowned economist and the chairman of the FBR Shabbar Zaidi was a tax affairs expert.
FM Qureshi further said that chairman FBR was a capable technocrat and he had never been the part of any government of Pakistan. “Dr Abdul Hafiz Shaikh was given a major responsibility in a difficult time,” he added.
He said that they left high salaries, perks behind for the sake of the country and returned to homeland hence they should be given a chance to serve the nation of Pakistan.
While talking about Jahangir Khan Tareen, FM said that he was the part of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and said that he always presented the narrative of the party.
“State Bank of Pakistan monitored the value of the dollar,” he said. He further said that opposition political parties should carry on strikes if it considered it beneficial for Pakistan.
