The baby’s great-grandmother, a member of the Tamayura tribe, was detained by the state prosecutor Paulo Roberto do Prado. He said, “We are investigating whether it was an attempted infanticide or if she thought the baby was dead.”
Prado further informed that despite being buried for over 7 hours “the information we have is that the child is doing well.”
The family of the baby girl is being interviewed and interrogated. Family claims that the baby fell on its head after the mother gave birth, but the authorities suspect that it is a cover-up story.
State police said, “Since the father refuses to recognize the child and the mother is only 15, there are suspicions that they had tried to kill the newborn.”
