It was revealed in January when Prime minister unveiled his plans to extent current Metro Bus Service Infrastructure to the New Islamabad Airport. Although, PM instructed to start immediate construction of Metro Bus Service, which has not yet been started.
However, the coming inauguration of New Islamabad Airport is set to be held on 14th of August, 2017 which is almost around the corner. Now the plans are to inaugurate both the projects, Islamabad Airport as well as New Metro Bus Islamabad on the same day of 14th August.
This extended metro bus project would cost around Rs.18 billion almost half the cost of Lahore Metro Services which was completed in 2012. The 25.6 km rout will be divided into two parts. One from Peshawar Mor to G13 and the other one from G13 to N-5 interchange and onwards to the Airport.
Looking at the cost of project it looks Punjab Government is committed to control costs, Islamabad Metro Bus had a rout of 22.5 km which incurred costs around Rs. 44 billion. Islamabad Metro Bus project had 24 stations whereas extended project would have only 14 stations.
In comparison, Peshawar Metro Bus Service which is under construction would cost unbelievably a lot less than the existing Metro projects.
