Shahid Khaqan Abbasi would be chairing a meeting of the federal cabinet today evening that is Tuesday. The meeting would be discussing the new Hajj policy for the coming year among many other agendas.
As per the official sources, the Religious Affairs Ministry and Interfaith Harmony have nearly completed the preparations for the announcement of the new Hajj policy 2018 during the flowing week, depending on the approval of the federal cabinet.
Hajj is a holy ritual that is performed every year by Muslims at Khana-e-Kaaba in Saudi Arabia. Performing Hajj is a bucket-list dream of Muslims and they intend to perform this as soon as they could. The Kingdom of Saudi Arab also engages in extensive preparatory activities to host the ritual. It is performed during the Islamic month of Zil’Hajj.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs would start receiving the applications for the Government Hajj Scheme from the middle of January 2018. The sources revealed that the lucky ones intending to go to Hajj next year via the government scheme would be selected by balloting in the last week of January.
The total Hajj quota for Pakistani pilgrims is one lac seventy-nine thousand two hundred and ten (179,210) out of which sixty percent of the total allotted quota would be performing Hajj through the government scheme whereas the remaining forty percent would be performing the holy ritual through private Hajj scheme, according to the sources.
The decision relating the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and the Economic Coordination Committee would also be approved during the today’s federal cabinet session.
