New Government to Launch New Laptop Scheme in Pakistan?

Remember the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme that was initiated by Pakistan Muslim League (N)? Even though the majority of youngsters were not political supporters of PML-N, they did support this scheme. Almost 300,000 laptops to the youth of Pakistan. Every year youngsters from the public and semi-public universities of Pakistan were selected according to certain criteria. And Haier laptops were given to them. Haier Ruba company manufactured the laptop in its facility in Lahore. But since Imran Khan government came into power, they have ended this scheme, much to the disappointment of the students.

But it seems that PM Imran Khan is coming up with a new offer as the Haier CEO Javed Afridi tweeted, “Bringing you something revolutionary really soon. Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI appreciated our next venture as it has paved a way for the furtherance of our IT industry and will make laptops accessible to every student at affordable prices since they will be #MadeInPak.”

Haier Pakistan tweeted, “Haier with first-ever, one of a kind advanced SMT plant, is all set to revolutionize Pakistan’s IT industry. Haier laptops are going to be affordable and most of all Made in Pakistan.”

After his tweet, people started speculating that a new laptop scheme might be introduced for the students. Even though no announcement has been made here are those who tweeted, “’PM Laptop Scheme’ is back, sb graduates ko aik bar phr se laptop milne chaiye #Demand.”

Another one tweeted, “Beginning of a new Era, laptops made in Pakistan”
