Nawaz Sharif is to be shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) from Adiala Jail owing to his worsening health, as per sources on Sunday. The decision of shifting the ex-prime minister—Nawaz Sharif to PIMS from Adiala Jail was taken by the caretaker government.
A check-up was done by the doctors after Nawaz Sharif complained of experiencing some chest pain and suggested that he should be immediately shifted to some coronary care unit (CCU), as revealed by sources.
After this, the jail superintendent approached the additional chief secretary. As per the sources in the Interior Ministry in accordance with the report of the chief secretary, the caretaker government has taken the decision of shifting Nawaz Sharif to PIMS.
Sources said that the Electrocardiogram (ECG) of Nawaz was done and it displayed alterations as per the medical report.
The sources further said that preparations have been done for the transportation of the ex-prime minister to PIMS from the jail.
On the 24th of July, a medical board was formed to determine Nawaz’s health condition as per the former prime minister he was in need of continuous medical care and monitoring.
The medical board is a five-member board founded by PIMS. The board conducted a medical check-up of Nawaz Sharif in Adiala jail—Rawalpindi on Monday, where the PML-N leader is serving his sentence.
Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were arrested on the 13th of July upon their arrival from London at the Allama Iqbal International Airport. From there they were flown via helicopter and shifted to the jail.
