Former disqualified Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will be shifted to the hospital today from Adiala Jail due to health issues. He will be shifted to the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology.
On doctor’s advise he is being shifted to the hospital. Medical examination of Nawaz Sharif was done by a team of doctors from Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, led by Major General (R) Azhar Kayani.

As per General Kayani, the reason Nawaz Sharif’s health deteriorated was due to intense heat. His ECG test was done and the result was unsatisfactory.
Punjab Home Ministry sent a request to the Interior Ministry to shift Nawaz Sharif to the hospital, which was approved. As per news reports it is claimed that Nawaz being diabetic and a heart patient was diagnosed with high sugar level and high Urea concentration in blood. This could damage the kidneys.
Nawaz personal doctor Dr. Adnan was not allowed to treat him in jail. When IG Jail Shahid Saleem Baig visited Nawaz in jail he requested for a medical check-up which was refused. Also due to security reasons and jail members chanting anti-Nawaz slogans he was not allowed to go out in the courtyard or offer Jummah prayers.
As Nawaz’s health continued to weaken a team of doctors led by Major General (R) Kayani visited the jail to check-up Nawaz Sharif. The team asked to shift Nawaz Sharif immediately to the hospital otherwise it could have been damaging to his kidneys.
It was decided by the authorities that as Nawaz is sentenced by a NAB court, thus a medical report should be developed by the medical board of PIMS. Once that is done, the decision will be taken to shift Nawaz Sharif to the hospital.
