National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has detained 350 accused during the period of last seven months. The Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has claimed that anti-corruption watchdog had recovered almost Rs2, 200 million with the overall conviction of 77 percent of the detainees.
The chairman NAB said in a statement that the NAB had been taken steps to eliminate corruption and he also directed all the director generals (DGs) of the NAB for not sparing any corrupt person.
The NAB chief said that the Bureau had nothing to do with the elections in the country, and it was working in Pakistan according to the law and would continue to execute its duties as per its mandate.
He also added that the allegations of pre-poll rigging have also been leveled against NAB to malign the credibility and image of the Bureau. Such types of allegations cannot stop the NAB’s firm resolve and commitment to throw the corruption out of the country. Which is also as per the nation’s voice to make Pakistan “a corruption-free country”.
As per the statement, NAB chief said, “NAB does not believe in any kind of victimization. The Bureau is committed to detaining the corrupt persons, absconders, and proclaimed offenders by using all of its power”.
