Pakistan’s Ex-President and Army Chief General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf has been given a last chance by a special court on to record his statement over the alleged “high treason case”. The special court will conduct hearing of the case from December 5 onwards on a daily basis.
The special court consists of a 3-member bench including Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth, Justice Nazar Akbar and Justice Shahid Kareem, while Waqar Ahmed Seth is leading the court. The court has directed Musharraf to record the statement under sections 342 in the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 before the court starts hearing the case.
Justice Waqar while talking to the representative of Interior ministry ordered to appoint the government prosecution team before December 5, he also said the high court has already given time till December 5, no further extension in time would be given after this date and the case would be heard on daily basis.
The former president and Army chief General (retd) Pervez Musharraf is facing a case named “high treason case” under Article 6 of the Constitution he suspended and evaded Pakistan’s constitution on November 3 and inflicted emergency and Provisional Constitution Order PCO in the country.
It is important to mention that the three-member special court had to announce the reserved judgment a couple of days ago on November 27, Islamabad High Court IHC had stopped the special court from announcing the decision, the court had reserved the verdict on November 19. The high court stopped the special court to announced the order on Interior ministry’s request, the interior ministry said the judgment reserved is in clear violation of the constitution because the department was not given time to appoint the prosecution team.
