The Pakistan Meteorological Department—PMD on Sunday has given forecast that there are chances of Muharram to start from September 1st.
The month of Muharram is the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
The PMD forecasted that there are chances of the Muharram moon sighting on the 31st of August.
The weather department has also said that the next Hijri year 1441 AH’s moon would take birth at 3:37 am on the 30th of August.
The moon would be of 27 hours and 37 minutes of age and would be visible for a span of 61 minutes.
Previously, the government of Sindh announced to place a ban on pillion riding on the 9th and 10th of Muharram throughout the province in line with the security arrangements planned for Ashura.
As per a notification issued by the home department of the province, a ban has also been imposed on the public display of weapons and gatherings of 5 or more people other than the Muharram gatherings.
According to the statement, the ban shall not be applied on women, children who are below 12 years in age, journalists, senior citizens, security agencies in uniform, law enforcement agencies and on the employees of the essential services.
