The federal government has announced Muharram public holidays across the nation. As reported by ARY NEWS, government has declared public holiday on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
The 9th and 10th of Muharram would be falling on the 29th and 30th of August. The government announces holiday on the mentioned days every year.
The notification about the holidays was released by the Interior Ministry. According to the released notice all the government and private offices, businesses and educational institutions would remain closed during the 2 days.

It is important to mention that strict security measures have been adopted during the first month of the Islamic calendar.
In Peshawar, latest mobile app has also been developed for ensuring strict security during the month.
The application would assist the police to monitor the majalis and processions online.
Previously, the government of Punjab had announced to impose a ban on pillion riding on the 9th and 10th of Muharram throughout the province.
The ban however would not be applicable on the children, senior citizens, journalists, women, security agencies in uniform and on the law enforcement agencies personnel, as shared by sources.
On the other hand, the police in Karachi has installed 1000 new CCTV cameras in more than 25 areas of the city to ensure the security of the Ashura’s main procession.
