BabyCentre, a known baby names, and parenting website has published its yearly list of most popular baby names in the United Kingdom. Muhammad is placed as 2019’s most popular baby name in the United Kingdom. It is placed at the top for the third consecutive year.
Arabic names have become highly popular in the UK for both the genders. These names include Marium, Fatima, Zara, Nur, Noah, Ibrahim, Ahmad, Ali, and Muhammad. All these names are among the top 100 names of 2019 in the UK.

In 2014 and 2015 Muhammad was the most popular name in the UK. Following Muhammad, Noah is the second most used name. However, Oliver has failed to maintain its place in the top three places for the first time in 9 years.
It was back in 1924 that for the first time Muhammad entered the list of top 100 names. Since then its popularity has been increasing.
Now coming to the girls’ names, the top three names are Olivia, Sophia, and Eva. In Arabic names, Fatima and Zara were at the highest spot. They soared 37 and 33 positions to reach 57th and 29th spots respectively. Similarly, Marium and Nur were ranked at 59th and 45th place respectively.
There are a few names on the list that have been inspired by nature like Forrest, Eden, Ivy, Rowan, Willow, Holly, Jasmine, Iris, and Olive.
Names from England and the Scottish women’s football team were also quite popular like Lucy, Ellen, Karen, Fara, Jill, and Kim, Erin, Lana, and Fiona.
Baby-names coming from kids and musical movies were also adapted that includes names like Simba, Nala, Freddie, Brian, Mary, Elton, Bernie, Taran, Sheila, Ivy, Ally, Jaxon, Eleanor, and Penny.
