More Than 1lac Trees Burn Down Due to Wildfires in KP

More than 1lac trees burnt down in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa owing to wildfires.

There is a huge charge on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after the wildfires in the province resulted in burning up more than 100,000 trees.

Around ninety forests have been reported to catch fire in different parts of KP in 2 months. And most of the trees which got burnt were planted for the campaign called the Billion Tree Tsunami within 2 years by the government.

The director of the campaign, Muhammad Themasip said that fire in forests is not new, earlier 6 people died due to the wildfires, so a complete survey would be conducted for the damage.

This Billion Tree Tsunami campaign was introduced in order to restore the green cover in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the provincial government in 2014.

According to the official if these wildfires are not controlled before the time it would burn down more trees. Reports say that the reason for the eruption of wildfires is the individuals who set up the trees and bushes on fire in some areas of this province namely: Swat, Mardan and Swabi.

Authorities working in KPK are seeking help for the fire control by the military and the from Rescue 1122.
