In a press conference held in Karachi, Fawad Chaudhry, the federal minister for science and technology has made an announcement regarding the launch of a moon-sighting app. As per the minister, the application would be ready till the fifteenth of Ramazan.
As there was an issue in sighting moon, so it was decided by the ministry to develop such an app which will make it easier to sight the crescent. The Comsats university would be developing this app which would, later on, be checked by the Islamic scholars and after that, the application would be made available for everyone.
Fawad Chaudhry further provided grade 14-16 jobs for the imams of the mosque and asked the state for the provision of jobs to the clerics.
He further briefed about the uses of the application and informed that this app would tell the perfect dates of different Islamic festivals such as; Eid ul Fitr, Eid ul Azha, Ramazan and Muharram.
Many people including scholars and national experts attended this press conference. Some of them include; Captain Retd, Nasim Nawaz, Director international centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences, Professor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhry, Prof. Dr Naveed A. Malik, former rector, Virtual University of Pakistan and many more.
