Earlier today, Moderna the US-based biotechnology company has announced the price of the COVID-19 vaccine. The company has decided to charge each and every government around $25 to $37 per dose for the vaccine. That also depends on the amount of vaccine that has been ordered.
According to the reports, Stephane Bancel Chief Executive Officer of Moderna said that their vaccine’s cost is going to be the same as the flu vaccine which is approximately around $10 to $50.
Previously, Moderna announced that their vaccine is more than 94.5% effective in defeating the pandemic virus that has so far killed more than 1.3 million people globally.
Moreover, since July, the executive branch of the European Union (EU), European Commission is in talks with the US-based company Moderna in order to protect a supply of millions of doses of its COVID-19 vaccine for less than $25 per dose.
Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue recently lead a meeting in which the ECC (Economic Coordination Committee) gave approval for the provision of a technical supplementary grant of 150 million dollars to purchase the COVID-19 vaccine.
The approved vaccine is going to be delivered to the healthcare workers on urgency. Ten million people will be provided with the vaccine under the above-mentioned arrangement.
