Mobile Services Suspension During Muharram Processions

The telecom operators have been asked to suspend mobile services during the Muharram processions.

The services are to remain suspended in specific areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi during Muharram-ul-Haram.

The Deputy Commissioner—Muhammad Hamza Shafqat, on Twitter, regretted regarding the inconvenience to the general public caused by the suspension of mobile services.

In sectors G-6, G-7 and Blue Area the mobile service would remain suspended on the 9th of Muharram and on the19th of Safar.

The mobile service would not be available in the Sector I-10, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed during the night in between the 9th and 10th of Muharram. The service would remain suspended in sector G-6 on the 10th of Muharram.

Similarly, the service would remain suspended in the Bari Imam area on the 11th of Muharram.

On the other hand, the provincial government of Sindh has also announced to suspend the cellular and internet services partially on the 9th of Muharram in the province for avoiding any unpleasant incident.

As per the issued notification there would be a partial ban on the mobile phone and internet services, especially on the routes of Muharram processions.

The cities to experience the partial cellular services suspension are Sukkur, Hyderabad, Karachi, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Benazirabad.
