Mobile phone services have been suspended in many cities of Pakistan today including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Lahore.
Fawad Chaudhry—the Information Minister posted it on Twitter that the mobile phone services in the federal capital and three cities of Punjab would remain suspended today from 8 am until Maghrib.

The decision taken for blocking the phone services came as protests have flawed the situation in many cities of the country after the court’s decision in the Asia Bibi case.

The apex court on Wednesday cleared Asia Bibi of blasphemy charges after a petition was filed in the Supreme Court’s Lahore registry for the review of the court’s decision.
The review requires Asia’s name to be put on the Exit Control List (ECL) which the government has highlighted that it has no plans of doing.
A tweet from the official account of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) reads that the federal government has got no plans of putting the name of Asia Bibi on ECL or appeal for a review against the court’s decision.
Federal Government has no plan to put Aasia Bibi’s name on ECL or appeal for a review against the court’s verdict. A review petition is been filed by the concerned party which has nothing to do with the government.

It further added that a review petition has been filed by the related party which has got nothing to do with the government.
